To dissent is to reject established doctrines and forms. It is to differ in belief or opinion––to disagree. In law, as in other arenas, it is to render the minority opinion.
To see with one’s own eyes, to feel and judge without succumbing to the suggestive power of the fashion of the day, to be able to express what one has seen and felt in a trim sentence or even in a cunningly wrought word––is that not glorious? Is it not a proper subject for congratulations?

My writing is informed by more than 30 years of personal and professional experience as an artist, photographer, communications designer and teacher. I hold BA degrees in Psychology and Art Education and a MA degree in Studio Art, with a design emphasis, all from Michigan State University. I am a Vietnam Era Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps, from 1968 to 1972. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Kate, for more than 20 years and have two fine step sons Matt and Casey.
