I made this image within ten miles of my home. It is reminiscent of the work of the late Aaron Siskind, a photographer whose work I respect and admire.

I don’t know Aaron Siskind, but it’s a fascinating photo — a peeling building? A birch tree?
Jeanie: Thanks for the comment. To see more of Aaron Siskind’ images just click the link in the blog. I’m sure you’ll find his work of interest.
It’s taken me several visits to see the two sections rather than taking in the image as a whole. Another interesting example of how expectations shape perception.
Linda: This image is one of many I have made of junk behind the sculpture building at Michigan State University. I did not assemble the piece or alter it in any way. I only selected and framed a portion in the viewfinder.
The junk pile is a resource for the sculpture students. It is always changing and it provides an endless source of compositions–a great exercise for the eye and imagination.
